GENERAL WEATHER SUMMARY

Pacific Northwest mean temperatures departed -0.5 degrees from normal relative to 1961-1990 normals (31 stations). Mean temperature departures ranged from -4.1 to 2.7 degrees.

A series of upper level disturbances brought light precipitation primarily to northern tier basins during the very beginning and end of the month. A ridge of high pressure maintained mainly dry weather during the remainder of the month.

No daily precipitation records were broken in the month of September.

Daily record maximum temperatures were broken at Kalispell (86 deg on the 23rd). They were tied at Astoria (86 deg on the 12th) and Eugene (96 deg on the 12th).

Daily record minimum temperatures were broken at Pocatello (30 deg on the 8th and 22 deg on the 28th), Kalispell (32 deg on the 1st), Eugene (38 deg on the 2nd and 31 deg on the 28th/was also a record for the month). They were tied at Kalispell (24 deg on the 27th).

For September, precipitation was 47 percent of normal (1961-1990) at Columbia above Coulee; 23 percent of normal at the Snake River above Ice harbor; and 34 percent at Columbia above The Dalles.
